Message from the CEO

"Changing Perspectives to Chart a Map of Consensus in Complex Social Systems"

The name "MIRAI MAP" reflects our commitment to providing a "map of the future" that allows our clients to navigate the complex currents of politics and administration with confidence.

My own life map was dramatically redrawn three years ago. An accident resulted in a spinal cord injury, and I began life in a wheelchair, transforming my world entirely.

However, looking at society from a vantage point of 100cm above the ground revealed the invisible "frictions" and distortions within existing rules and "common sense" with startling clarity.

This "different perspective" is more than just a personal experience. I am convinced that it is a powerful "sensor" for facilitating dialogue between the public and private sectors and designing optimal social systems for all players.

MIRAI MAP is not a solo endeavor. Our greatest strength lies in our team—professionals who have spent years at the forefront of policy-making and legislative processes in Kasumigaseki and Nagatacho.

Our clients range from major domestic corporations to global leaders in the healthcare and consumer goods industries. For global companies facing the hurdles of complex Japanese regulations and social consensus-building, we integrate two distinct weapons: an acute "stakeholder perspective" and a profound "mastery of policy-making processes" to develop winning strategies.

"When perspectives change, solutions emerge."

In this era of rapid change, we strive to be your partner in charting a reliable "map" that guides your business and our society toward a better future.

Takaaki Kawakami

Takaaki Kawakami

Strategic Leader in Digital Transformation, Public Policy, and Regulatory Advocacy

Takaaki Kawakami is a high-impact executive with a distinguished background spanning central government, global and domestic pharmaceuticals, and digital leadership. He currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) for a major publicly traded group in the food and service industry (listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market) and as CEO of MIRAI MAP Inc., driving enterprise-wide structural reforms and digital transformation (DX).

Public Policy & International Trade Expertise

Mr. Kawakami built his professional foundation through an extensive tenure at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), specializing in international affairs and multilateral negotiations. A centerpiece of his government career was his three-year posting as a diplomat at the Permanent Mission of Japan to International Organizations in Geneva, where he served on the WTO agricultural negotiation team. He played a vital role in managing high-stakes inter-delegation coordination and intelligence gathering, with a focus on the complexities of market access and tariff structure recalibration.

His regulatory expertise is further complemented by his early-career experience at the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), where he gained foundational insights into competition policy and the review processes for corporate consolidations.

Bilateral Pharmaceutical Leadership

In the private sector, Mr. Kawakami spent a decade in senior management roles within the healthcare industry, serving in leadership positions at both a leading US-based global pharmaceutical corporation and a prominent Japanese domestic firm. This dual perspective allows him to seamlessly align global corporate strategies with local regulatory requirements, optimizing public affairs and market access in highly scrutinized sectors.

Social Innovation & Thought Leadership

Following a life-altering spinal cord injury in 2022, Mr. Kawakami has emerged as a dedicated advocate for social innovation and inclusive professional environments. He serves as Vice-Chairman of the Japan Spinal Cord Foundation and Director of Code for Osaka.
